Pain in inferior extensor retinaculum

Post a new topicby capita on Sun Mar 07, 2010 8:12 am

Hello,

For about 3 weeks now I get a pain in inferior extensor retinaculum along the inside of the foot if I touch the tibialis anterior tendon at the top of ankle when my foot is flat on the ground. This first occured after extending my training runs in preparation for a marathon.

I went to my physiotherapist who recommended a series of daily calf stretches and applying ibuprofen gel to the area before running and taping up the arch.

The pain feels like pins and needles, but can feel like a pulling or tearing sensation after I have been on a run and cooled down.

Any suggestions much appreciated.
