Running Injury

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Jan 16, 2002 12:35 am

I am a runner. I have been running for three years injury free. I recently bought a different kind of running shoes. Everytime I run on a lot of hills
my ankles and sides of my foot are stiff
the next day. When I was running last Thursday my ankles, etc were very stiff. I thought as I ran they would loosen up. Needless to say I haven't run since then because my feet are stiff and the sides are tender.Does this sound like tendinitis ? If so doou think it is caused by wearing a non stability shoe ? Please help, I am suppose to be running boston in a couple of months.

It is either tendinitis or a strain. You should try to return the new sneakers or throw them out and buy a pair more like the pair you used to wear. You may need to rest your feet for about a week and even wear an elastic bandage around your ankles when you start runnign again. Start slowly and work your way up. If the pain continues or worsens, see a podiatrist for an evaluation. Good luck and please write back if you have any further questions.
