stress fractures

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Jul 11, 2002 4:35 pm

When I went into the US Army I was issued size 12 shoes and boots. about six weeks into training I found out that I had stress fractures(third metertarsals)on both feet. The problem was that my shoe size was 16EEE. Now years later I am having very serious problems with my feet, serious pain, numbness and many more problems. Can the wearing of shoes 3 sizes too small cause these kind of problems and what kind of research can I do to bring this to my VA Doctor to help with traetment. Would it be wise to maybe ask him to do a bone scan or MRI

Most foot condiitons are able to be diagnosed without an MRI or bone scan. However, if you are having troubles being diagnsoed, an MRI would probably be beneficial. Wearing small shoes can cause conditions such as stress fractures but they are probably not the cause of your current foot pain. I am unaware of reserach on the subject of small shoes. You may want to read about tarsal tunnel syndrome to see if this matches your symptoms. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
