Sudden painful tendon issues

Post a new topicby kristinethom on Fri Sep 12, 2008 1:05 pm

I'm retired USMC, and I've put a lot of miles on my feet over the years. I'm 46yrs old and started running again on advice of my cardiologist After running on grassy hills for 6 months, I experienced pain on the outside of my foot. It was painful to walk on. I could point and flex my foot, but it was impossible to roll the sole of my foot inward without extreme pain. After a day or so of pain, something would audibly "pop" on the outside of my foot it would hurt like hell for a couple of minutes... and then be fine with no pain.

Ortho doc checked it out couldn't tell me what it was. Rested two weeks. Went back to running. Foot pain again just like before. Went into to Doc and had an xray. No breaks. Again a day later, a loud "pop", extreme pain for 5 minutes, then I was fine. Doc ordered an MRI. MRI showed bruise in marrow of heal bone. Inflamed achilles tendon and another tendon on outside of foot (can't remember name of tendon) and possible stress fraction in joint between calcaneous and talus bones. Doc prescribed a walking boot for 6 weeks to immobilize it so it could heal.

My worries are that I am also starting to feel same type of pain in my "good" foot, and yesterday my knee on my good leg experienced a similar kind of pain while getting out of the car. Sudden pain with movement, I straightened out my leg, felt extreme pain while feeling like a ligament or tendon was scraping across bone.... then my knee was fine. I am also experiencing weakness and soreness in both of my shoulder joints. What gives? why am I having all this trouble with my joints all of the sudden? Any suggestions or ideas why? Thanks Doc!
