Swelling on the top of the footThank you for taking the time to answer my question. I run about 4-5 times per week on a treadmill for about 30 minutes (3 miles). Recently I got an aching sensation in the arch of my right foot, which subsided after I massaged the area. Noe, however there is pain on the top of my right foot (according to the diagram it looks like the area where the inferior extensor retinaculum muscle is) and that middle band across the top of my foot is slightly puffy. Can you tell me what this is, and how I can treat it?
Thank you!
Re: Swelling on the top of the footYou probably have tendonitis in the area. Running exclusively on treadmills causes a lot of shock to the legs and this may have caused te problem. You should try to rest the area for about a week. If the pain continues, you should see a podiatrist for an accurate diagnosis. My concern is that you have something like a stress fracture that will not heal by simply resting your foot.
