I too am suffering from continued sesamoiditis No fracture seems to show up on x-ray, MRI Been wearing a walking cast boot for 5 weeks now, with no real healing.
I just picked up my new orthotics but as soon as I walked normally (with my toe flexing) it hurt. I almost burst into tears. Nothing seems to be helping and I can’t exercise!...Read the full article

Hi Cheryl –

I too was just dx with sesamoiditis. I have been in a walking boot for seven weeks now. They thought it was a fracture and a bunch of other crazy things but then I got a second opinion who believes it is sesamoiditis. This makes the most sense, given how I likely injured it. Anyway I am writing to give you hope. My doc said he wants me out of the boot next week and in a sneaker with a dancer’s pad then I should be pain free in the next few weeks. At five weeks I was really frustrated too but just keep at it, it will show imporivement. You need to rest it as much as possible. Maybe you should inquire about dancer’s pads. I hear you on the excersice but just know you will be able to again soon with time. Good luck. – Brooke

An xray may not show a fractured sesamoid. Ask your Dr for an MRI. There are also different kinds of MRIs and some may also not show a fracture. Tell him or her that you want an MRI from possibly an orthopedic hospital or institute, I'm no radiologist so I don't know what kind of MRI I had done but it was specialized to visualize things that may not come up with your run of the mill MRI.
