cortizone shot for sesamoiditisI'm a former ballet dancer, runner and now - in that vein - sufferer of sesamoiditis My doctor has given me some options for treatment, including a cortizone shot. I'm 26. Can you tell me what are the pros and cons of getting this shot? I want to go back to running and, if possible, dance. Surgery did not sound like a good option for someone my age.
Thanks, Paula in Tacoma
Re: cortizone shot for sesamoiditisHi Paula,
I am 35,,and I have been getting the cortizone shots..The shot is basically temporary relief for the pain...I , personally can not deal with continuing to get shots in the foot..SO I am scheduled to have the surgery in a few weeks..... Re: Re: cortizone shot for sesamoiditisDear Paula:
I've had a cortizone shot when sesamoiditis started. It was a terrible pain and did not help at all in my case. However, later on, another doctor explained to me WHY it had caused this pain to me: because the former doctor had given me the shot from below (directly into the ball) instead of from above. So make sure you get your shot from above! Yours Anja [quote] I'm a former ballet dancer, runner and now - in that vein - sufferer of sesamoiditis.
