pain continuesI went to see a podiatrist in June because of an aching pain under my big toe. He diagnosed me with sesamoiditis
He gave me inserts, with a cutout so that the weight is not on that bone as much. And he told me to wear my shoes (more than I had been). He also gave me some arthritis (Celebrex) medication for a month. The pain was much, much less during that month. However, I am still wearing my shoes, but in the evening it still aches. So I made another appointment, and I was wondering what will be the next step. Will I be on more medication? Will I get a steriod shot? Also, how long do the inserts last? I'm concerned because I will be going to Europe for vacation in less than 1 month, and I want to be healthy enough to walk around without pain. Thank you.
Re: pain continuesSesamoiditis can be a nagging type of injury. However, the next step is probably a steroid injection into the area. Explain to your doctor that you are leaving in a month and he/she may be able to give you a second injection right before you leave. Between the injection, the Celebrex, and inserts, you should be able to enjoy your vacation. Once you come back from Europe however, you may need to give your foot some rest. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
