Sesamoid Fracture 13 months

Post a new topicby rjs on Mon Feb 04, 2008 10:21 pm

Hi.

Looking for advice, or someone to comment that has been post surgery "a good year" or so, from a Sessamoidectomy and how they are doing.

WHile in P.T. Jan 12, 2007 for post surgery rehab for Amputation of #2 toe LF due to a previous dpm's failed Perm Hammet-toe procedure for torn Plantar plate, ( drove rod into the MTPJ and I woke from surgety with level 8 new pain in the MTPJ which I never had prior to surgery, The P.T. had me do impact excercise that gave me (What a new MRI report revealed) as "Sessmoiditis vs fracture" of the OTHER foot. My right foot.!!.
It's been just over a year and I have been in self imposed isolation as I cannot bear much weight let alone use the ball of foot. I now have hip and knee problems.
DR tried cortizone shots x3, boot with diabetic foot pad, ( releif but cant wear that forever and that is what gave me hip, knee problems, I have been at home riding the couch since Jan 12, 2007 with very limited leave of home except for food shopping.
New MRI last month returns "Fractured Sessamoid" Tibial i think. So it went from sessmoiditis to fractured.

Before Nov 2005, I was a very athletic 47 year old male that did cardio, weight training 3-4x week and hiking. I am in constant burning throbbing pain and unwanting to leave the house.

Can anyone comment on their recovery from this Sessamoidectomy procedure, or DR advice please.

I went to the doctor last week after throbbing pain in my big right toe and learned that i too have a sesamoid fracture. I am scheduled to see an orthopedic specialist on Monday. The physician that I initialy saw sent me home with anti inflammatory medicine that made me so sick that I coudn take it. I am a bit nervouse but hopeful that every hing will be fine. I was told that i had to stay off my foot until it healed. Well, that is a little hard to do since I am a teacher.

I will be praying for you. Your strength is your biggest assest. Dont give up, Im not
