sesamoidectomy gone bad?

Post a new topicby wevery71 on Fri Nov 02, 2007 4:30 pm

I have not visited these forums before, but desperation is setting in.

I had a partial tibial sesamoidectomy 6 months ago and I am back on crutches and non-weight bearing due to pain. Prior to the surgery I immobilized the great toe and joint for 6 months to try and heal it using casts, braces, crutches, steriod injections x 2, NSAIDS, supplements, acupuncture light therapy, ultrasound, iontophoresis, etc. My podiatrist and the orthopedic surgeons do not know what to tell me except yo continue to stay off of it. I had so many negative symptoms from disuse that I am afraid that if I continue to immobilize it any longer, it may never work the same. Anyone have a similar experience they can share or have any advice. Please feel free to ask me any questions as I have been through the ringer with this injury. 12 months and counting!
