sesamoiditis

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Aug 08, 2001 4:02 pm

hello, i have been having problems with my foot now for the last 6 months. I have gotten x-rays and an MRI The results were a fractured sesamoid. I think I was told that there were two surgerys to do on this type of injury. A full removal of the sesamoid bone or I think a bone graph. From what I have heard the removal of the bone is a pretty rough procedure. My question to you is, is a bone graph possible and if so, is the recovery as severe as the sesamoidectomy?

A bone graft is almost impossible. I would not recommend it. Surgery to remove a sesamoid is not that difficult if the surgeon is well trained. You may consider asking the surgeon to remove the smaller piece of the fractured sesamoid and leave the rest. Have a nice day and please write back if you have any further questions.
