Basil CellI have read about this since it was found on my face 2 months ago, but there seems to some controversy. My dermatologist says, don’t worry Basil Cell is slow growing and doesn’t mets. I had a biopsy and it showed it was in the margins. All they did was one shot of cryo and sent me on my way. I am thinking I need to go for a second opinion. has anyone had any experience such as mine?

Re: Basil CellHuh? Where you advised on the results of the biopsy? Huh? Were you told to stay OUT of the sun? I am seriously confused.
I had a basal cell removed by a plastic surgeon on my chest (don't ever let a Dermatologist do it) and if you want to know the stats about re-ocurrence, I highly advise you to get a REAL dr. Ms. Kvaale It was a loss to me....mo more sunworshipping.........
Re: Basil Cell"PLEASE, PLEASE, GO GET A SECOND OPNION". My fathers dermatologist referred him for surgical removal of a squamous cell carcinoma. The plastic surgeon he saw removed 95%. Never see a plastic surgeon for removal of a skin cancer. See a cancer specialist. The ear, nose, throat doctor told him not to worry. "I'll keep an eye on it". After the 3rd doctor removed a lymph node (4th operation), finally a referral was made to the CTC of america. 15 radiation treatments later, my father has skin cancer of the squamous cell type, in the bone and lymph nodes. He is stage IV. If the first surgeon had made the referral to the CTC, I wouldn't be posting the note.
I don't mean to frighten you or anyone who reads this. But if it scares you enough to get a second, maybe third opinion then so be it. My advice to you would be to ask your doctor, no, tell your doctor to give you a referral to the nearest cancer treatment center. See a specialist. I wish you luck.
Re: Basil CellI am glad you mentioned this. My surgical removal was for a basal cell and the lab results showed 100% removal. But I did not mention that a cancer specialist should be seen for the higher levels. I am a little nervous though.
Good point. Eliza-basal Anyone else out there still frying in the sun after basal???
