Skin Cancer

hi. ive had this bruise like area about the size of a thumb print on the back of my left upper arm area for years now,really dont know how long. ive looked up skin cancer and all it ever shows is moles so i was wondering if anyone could tell me what this might possibly be. my x used to abuse me and leave bruises on my arms from grabbing me,could this be a bruise that didnt heal or could it be a form of skin cancer?
