melanoma in lungs

Post a new topicby Guest on Wed Apr 17, 2002 11:02 am

2 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with melanoma, Clark's level 3, which was removed and a sentinel node biopsy was done. The frozen section of the lymph node was negative but PCR testing stated that it was positive for melanoma.I had more lymph nodes removed and did the one month of inteferon chemo per a clinic trail that I am involved in. Now I had been diagnosed with melanoma tumors in both lungs. Besides removal of the tumors what kind of treatment is available next. Thanks.

Consideration could be given to using high dose interleukin-2; other
possibilities include Temodar, single agent DTIC or aggressive combined
chemobiotherapy ala MD Anderson protocol. Thank you for using
oncologychannel and good luck.

I had the larger of the two nodules removed. A repeat CT scan at 3 months showed that the small nodule in the other lung is still at 5 mm and there are no other metatastic areas. At this time the oncologist has only offered Leukine shots. I feel like this is not enough, should I be looking for another opinion?
