melenoma

I have a close family member who was being treated for a bad sinus infection as this person was having a hard time to breath. After two weeks of medication there was no change. Upon being sent to a specialist he discovered a growth somewhere in the upper nasal passage. It was checked and found to be malignant. This person was told it is a type of melenoma which is not very common to this hospital which is a large cancer treatment center. The infected person is seventy years old. Since we have another family member who was treated for cancer also and was twenty three at the time, was told her cancer was rare in a person of her young age. It first appeared on the back of her tongue, was removed and then returned in her lymph nodes and again removed. Both are female. The two are not close but are aunt and neice, and since I am concerned family member of both I was hoping to gain some information that might be of value to both as well as other family members. Thank you for any help or advice you can give.

You can read about melanoma in the melanoma section of oncologychannel.
Thank you for using oncologychannel and good luck to your family members.
