Post a new topicby livingwith on Thu Sep 18, 2008 1:27 pm

Hi everyone,
I was just diagnosed today with Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome Wow, the pain takes my breath away 15 to 20 times a day. Nerve pain is harder than Labor pains. I have had two shots, I am now wearing an ankle brace, with my foot tightly bandaged for support and I am trying to remain optimistic that this debilitating condition will heal itself and never return!!!! Hi Bab.
Hang in there. This condition has many causes and none of them are important when your in pain. Do remember that injury makes it much worse. The nerves in your foot are probably prone to injury just from everyday activities. Rest and inactivity are your best friends. Great right. I found Advil worked to ease it some. I also found custom orthodics really helped. First you need to heal any tendonitis you may have now. Then look for shoes that are rigid above the arch. It's also a good idea to look for shoes that have a removable insert. If you need professionally made orthodics you will need to remove the insert before putting the orthodic in your shoe. Poditrists have given me the most info. and in general have been more helpful than orthopedists. I have had the condition for more than 10 years and I really, really miss wearing pretty shoes. I have seen many doctors, PT experts and found very little understanding. Good luck -- and welcome to my row boat.
