HI, I too am suffering with Tarsal Tunnel since July. First diagnosed as Plantar Fasciitis. I have had 2 rounds of cortizone shots with no relief. I am now living with Lidocane patches 24 hours a day that offer relief. If your shots do not help ask about these patches. It makes the pain a little more tolorable. I am going for more neurological testing on Nov 20th. I am sure surgery is my only option at this point. Worried about the surgery and recovery time. Bets of luck to you!
Re: TARSAL TUNNEL SYNDROMEI am so glad I found you guys! I, too, have been suffering with "plantar fasciitis" since the beginnig of this year. I had 2 cortizone injections, wore my night splint, am now in a day cast, iced all the time, and nothing. My doctor said surgery was my last option. I asked to get an MRI before surgery. I just got my MRI results back yesterday and it turns out I don't have plantar fasciitis. I have a formation of synovial cysts in my posterior ankle joint which are causing tarsal tunnel syndrome. I am SO tired of my heel hurting. I think surgery may be my only option too. I have an appointment with my podiatrist on Monday and with another one on Friday. Are either of you in California? I think our condition is pretty uncommon and I'm not sure how many podiatrists have actually treated it.

I had NEVER heard of Tarsal Tunnle till my Dr. told me that was what I had. I have been doing a lot of reading about it and thinking maybe I should go for an MRI. I did have an ultrasound of the area last week but not sure that would show any cysts. I was being treated for Plantar Fasciitis and doing all the things I was suppose to for that and then found out all the stretching probaly made the Tarsal Tunnel worse. So be careful if you have been diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis that it isn't Tarsal Tunnel, you may be doing more harm than good with the stretching! ~L
Re: TARSAL TUNNEL SYNDROMEhi friend,
i have the same problem for 6 months now. my orthi doc said he doesn't know what is it about. so i guess my foot problem is TTS. anyway i did try massage abd it helps. the massage must be those type that press on the nerve, to relief and let the blood flow through and using a vaccum suck on the spot where the nerve is block. i do not know you understand what do i mean by vaccum suck. it is a plastic bottle. some chinese therapist use a bamboo , start a fire to take out the air and quickly place it on the nerve spot. it really work on me. i think i will go back to do this treatment after reading so many of TTS stories. take care nad god bless you tiffany
