Anterior tarsal tunnel?Hi everyone.
I've been reading alot here and find your posts so helpful and SO validating, that others understand how all this feels. I've recently been diagnosed with what the doc called Anterior Tarsal Tunnel I havent seen anything mentioned about this on any threads yet, has anyone heard of this? She referred me to a surgeon who is having me do another EMG/NCS because the one the original dr did only showed trouble w/ 1 nerve and he thinks there is more going on than that. I'm reading in some places that surgery should always be the last resort, but then reading in others that nothing else really works other than for a couple of days. The thought of surgery scares me, I'm 45 and live alone with only my daughter to come help at times, but she works 12 hour days as a nurse and has 2 young kids, so I know her time will be greatly limited. After 4 months of dealing with this, this new dr may finally be the one to say I need surgery, I guess I'm just wondering, is the general consensous here that nothing else seems to make a difference long term? Or would I just be pro-longing the inevitable and maybe making my condition worse by trying other things? I'm just nervous about all this. Thanks in advance for any replies.
Re: Anterior tarsal tunnel?I was wondering if you could tell me what your symptoms were with the anterior tarsal tunnel that you have? I just got a shot from my foot dr. in the location that looks like it could be deep peroneal nerve on top of the foot. I hope you have the problem solved by now, I now this post is a few months old/
Re: Anterior tarsal tunnel?hello again
I was never officially diagnosed with anterior tarsal tunnell, I just know that on certain places on the top of my foot is numb.. my podiatrist refers to this as a mosaic pattern It has now been 8 months since I was first diagnosed with TTS, I have made some improvement. Like you, I needed to have my feet back, I was a first time mother at the age of 42 and desperate. I have not ruled out surgery, but at this point I am not pursuing that option. I am currently on cymbalta & just started lyrica, both of those medications have greatly helped with the pain. my podiatrist says this will take 12 to 18 months to heal, but I know in my heart it will be longer.. hang in there and keep posting !!! this website has helped a lot !! :) kim
