Help, any ideas?I've had tarsal tunnel for nearly three years now. Cortizone, Ibuprofen, surgery, low doses of antidepressants, Gabapentin. I've done all the possible medical treatments really possible. I've even had an EMG that was done a year after surgery. It didn't show anything wrong with the nerves themselves. But I'm still in pain, worse than before the surgery. Inflamation, swelling, stiffness, tingling, pins and needles, sometimes the occassional blast of searing pain if my ankle's particularly upset that day, and soreness. It's also in both feet now where it started in just the right and the problems in the ankles are now causing problems in my knees. I'm in the process of switching clinics because of a move, but my last podiatrist could suggest medicine. And that's it. With the way my body scars so easily, she didn't want to attempt another surgery. At this point, though, I'm ready for amputation. Is there really anything else out there besides the non-medical treatments like acupuncture and vitamins? Is there a possibility that the TTS is a symptom of another problem? Diabetes is absolutely ruled out as is being overweight. I've been sceened and don't have the disease and I only weigh 110. I've been reading, but nothing really pops out. Any ideas?
Re: Help, any ideas?I have all those sensations and problems as well with my surgery being about 7 weeks ago. I hope it is not permanent and wonder if you kept your foot elevated for 3 weeks after surgery which means no walking at all. Did you wear the boot a month? I think most times we don't take good care in the beginning. I don't know any remedies to help you. I too am bummed about the scar and didn't expect that. Lots of electric feelings in the foot and some pain. Let me know how you progress but really let me know about you the month after your surgeries and the activities that you did. I'm curious. I still cannot walk without a shoe and when I do it's pretty painful still.
Re: Help, any ideas? There weren't really many activities that first month, except learning the art of being lazy. Surgeries take time to recover from, so you won't know for a while if the release was a success. Just keep seeing your podiatrist for updates. Let him/her know any issues you're having. Otherwise, be careful.
Re: Help, any ideas? All and all I think this was the answer to the problems I was having and am going ahead with the second surgery on the right foot. I have some uncomfortableness when going barefoot but very little pain and this stage and mostly electric feeling in the foot for lack of a better word. I realize that it will take a while before I know that fully and completely but so far am pleased. It couldn't be worse than before the surgery as I have stuggled for years.
Good luck to you. Robin
