Help...Tarsal Tunnel due to cystI have been diagnosed with tarsal tunnel due to a cyst. At one point, the pain was excruciating. Now I continue to have nerve sensitivity, tingling, and numbness in my arch, ball of my foot, and toes. This has gone on now for over 2 1/2 months. I am anxious to be able to exercise again.
After diagnosing a cyst under the ankle via ultrasound, my podiatrist has done the following to treat this: prescribe anti-inflammatory (Naproxen) for 1 month, but have stopped for a couple weeks now; ice area 2-3 times/day; rest it. The Dr. thinks the cyst has shrunk. He also thinks I have a similar cyst on my right foot, but this does not cause me any problems at all. There is no sign of improvement and the condition hasn't changed for 1 1/2 months. Isn't there anything that can treat this? I am growing frustrated and impatient.
Re: Help...Tarsal Tunnel due to cystI have tarsal tunnel along with neuroma's in both feet. I had the left foot done on September 10th and the right foot is scheduled for the 5th of October but may get shoved back because I am not sure that I can put all my weight on my left foot yet. However I do have a cyst on the right foot that they believe contributed to the tarsal tunnel in the right foot but I had it in the left foot as well to. Take care and good luck to you.
Re: Help...Tarsal Tunnel due to cystHow are you doing? Did you schedule a surgery. I had tarsal tunnel in both feet along with neuroma's in both, the right foot however had showed a cyst in there that put more pressure and may also have caused the tarsal tunnel. That surgery was much more dificult as they cut longer on that foot and much deeper (due to the cyst). Well after surgery it turned out not to be cyst and was a mass of veins that they then tied off but caused much more swelling and pain. They tied off veins in the left foot too but not this many. It's been almost 2 months and it still looks horrible. Sometimes it "appears" to be a cyst but they do not know until they get in there.
The first surgery was great compared to this one. How are you doing? What did you decide to do? I don't know if there is an option other than surgery that would be as permanent as surgery. I am glad that I did it regardless of the pain and the immobility for almost 4 months total. Let me know what you found out.
