Tarsal Tunnel

Hi, I'm a 42 year old mother with diabetes (type 2), asthma plus other disabilities. I just found out around the end of March that I had tarsal tunnel. My primary care physician thought it was plantars fatish. Also found out I had gout. My right foot started in June of 2007. I was were I could not walk, stand, etc on it. And I drive taxi for a living. So you know how hard it was to work. I went to one foot doctor, he found small bone spurse. He did the x-rays, injections, physical therapy and nothing worked. So he wanted me to have surgery. I went for a second opinion and that is when I found out I had tarsal tunnel They are going to try the brace for 6 months and then if necessary surgery.
It has been very painful for me. and now my foot goes numb and it hurts up in to the calf musscle now and then.

Did the brace work and what type did they recommend? I was looking at Foot Smart and they showed ankle braces under tarsal tunnel and I thought I would try them. I don't live near that store but can probably buy some type at our local drug store or have them order me some for me.
