PLZ READ THIS POST ! WHAT HAS HELPED MEHi everyone
I have been on this website for aproximately 2 months, and I have noticed that tarsal tunnell syndrome has affected a lot of runners & health care providers. My story has a twist, I have BILATERAL TARSAL TUNNELL syndrome.. I was blessed to have a healthy boy x the age of 42, then to be told you have bilateral tarsal tunnel and that it could take up to a year to improve. I missed out on 6 weeks of my son's life due to post partum depression & tarsal tunnell syndrome.. I had a double whammy, I wondered how I would ever be able to go on & raise my son and not be able to walk. I talked with my PCP and my podiatrist and I started cymbalta... It not only helped my depression it has helped the nerve pain in my feet.. the medication is for diabetic neuropathy but it has made a world of difference in my feet. I also take a B complex every day and I am now seeing my acupuncturist again... I have thought about surgery, but my podiatrist says that the recovery time is just as long as if I didn't have surgery. cymbalta has helped me immensely, and I now know that it will be a long time before my feet return to normal.. I also don't need as much pain medication as I used to does anybody have any thoughts on cymbalta ??? I would love to know sincerely onepugluvr.... Kim
Re: PLZ READ THIS POST ! WHAT HAS HELPED MEHey, I also have Tarsal Tunnel in both feet. I am a nurse, so i work on my feet, and have the worst pain I have ever had. I have not tried cymbalta, but have been on celebrex, Voltaren, and was just put on neurontin, which is for seizures. Do you have diabetes? Nothing is working for me so far, and I can't take the time off work for surgery. Did you podiatrist prescribe the cymbalta?
Re: PLZ READ THIS POST ! WHAT HAS HELPED MEHi churchmouse :)
I also am a nurse, & I am restricted to work only 4 hour shifts... my podiatrist has not "graduated" me to 8 hr shifts, he won't even consider 12 hr shifts.. his comment was " do you know how many nurses I treat for issues with their feet ?" I discussed Lyrica vs neurontin for my feet with my PCP and he prefers the lyrica. No I do not have diabetes, I only had gestational diabetes.. I was on dolobid bid for a while, and now just prn. I take cymbalta 60 mg & lyrica 75 mg once daily. I also take a B complex and fish oil (yuck). Both as you know are for good nerve function. By far the cymbalta has worked the best, the lyrica has worked some. I need to up the dose on my lyrica, but I want to discuss that with my PCP. my shoe wardrobe is limited to 2 pair of white clogs (with high arch support) and a good pair of sneakers (also with high arch support). I don't know what it is like to walk in heals, and I don't know when I will be able too. think about the cymbalta, it has helped my greatly with the nerve pain.. Please keep in touch on how you are doing, you are the second person I have talked to with bilateral TTS sincerely Kim
Re: PLZ READ THIS POST ! WHAT HAS HELPED MEI'm an RN (healthcare provider) & suffered with this weird pain in both feet for about 15 years. I've had treatment for heel spurs & surgery for Morton's Neuromas & because I've had RA since childhood, am accustomed to taking NSAIDS. I went to a long list of orthos & podiatrists who told me I had plantar fasciitis &/or tendonitis. I've had Cortisone injected everywhere but where it should have been. The pain seemed particularly bad after driving. [I had to move to Los Angeles 3 yrs ago] It was so bad that at the end of a long ride I would literally have to stand at the side of the car for seversl minutes before I could walk. 1 day at work, I decided to look up foot, ankle & toe pain. 'Yahoo' led me to TTS so I printed the whole thing out & took it to a Santa Monica Podiatrist. He did neuro tests in his office but said he believed I "might be faking." At my insistence, he found me a Neurologist who does specialized (expensive) tests which proved that this is what I have. Needless to say, I didn't return t him. I already know an Ortho who specializes in foot & ankle disorders although I'm not sure I can stand what I know the resulting pain will be. 1 of the things I've done is completely change the kinds of shoes I wear. I avoid sneakers or any shoe that fits tight around the ankle (Yes! ankle!) or over the instep. I'm looking for suggestions about a suitable shoe for the gym. Since most of the posters are younger than I am (I'm 63), I'm guessing thay some of you may have discovered a good one.
Re: PLZ READ THIS POST ! WHAT HAS HELPED MEhello !
I have one pair of sneakers that I wear, as I do not like to wear shoes that are tight around my feet. My sneakers are ones with high arch supports & I wear nursing shoes that are open in the back with high arch supports. I tried to put on a pair of heals last night, big mistake !!! who knows when I will wear a normal pair of shoes again keep me posted
