Post Surgery-Tarsal Tunnel Release w/ excision of cystic massOn 7/26/01 I had Tarsal Tunnel Release w/ excision of a rather lg cystic mass on the medial aspect of my right foot. I am still experiencing severe pain when I first awake and when I am standing longer than an hour or two. I have been unable to return to work as an EMT/emergency room tech. as this entails 12hr shifts with little, if any, down-time. On my last visit to my podiatrist I was told the symptoms indicate Plantar Fasciatis & Tendinitis. I was give cortison injections and refills of my Celebrex Rx. After 2wks this has not improved the pain. The pain has been persistent since the surgery, and I am becoming discouraged. I love my job as an EMT and fear I will never be able to return to this type of work. It was suggested that I get shoes with a more ridged arch support than the Dexter's athletic shoe I currently wear. Can you make some suggestions on brands or any other suggestions that my assist in my recovery?
Thank you for your help. Mrs. Susan Aiton
Re: Post Surgery-Tarsal Tunnel Release w/ excision of cystic massAnti-pronation sneakers are a good option and New Balance and Asics have a few models. However, this may not get rid of all your pain. If the shoes do not work, you may want to return to your doctor and ask about getting an MRI to determine if any structures are inflammed or damaged.
