Tarsal Tunnel SyndromeI have been diagnosed with TTS. I have numbness, tingling, sharp jabbing pain at times, and cold sensation from about the top of my arch to and including my toes. My Dr. is recommending surgery. I question the value of surgery since I also have been diagnosed with bilateral
neuropathy of the feet. Iam not diabetic. I have been off work approximately 1 month, and resting my feet, but with not improvements. Any info you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you. PS Do my signs and symptoms sound like TTS to you, and how successful do you think TTS surgery would be?

Re: Re: Tarsal Tunnel SyndromeTarsal tunnel surgery is indicated when there is an entrapment of the tibial nerve. It is important to determine what is causing your symptoms. Neuropathy can cause burning and pain like yours. In these cases, there arte medicines such as neurontin that can help. However, if the nerve is being compressed, then you may actually neede surgery. An MRI, as Dsouthernguy_39 suggested, can determine if the tibial nerve is a source of the problem. Therefore, you may want to ask your docotr about this study before having surgery.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Tarsal Tunnel SyndromeI just had the surgery for tarsal tunnel the end of Dec. There is still some numbness but I no longer have the pain and will be returning to work on Monday. My Doctor said that the numbness may take up to A year to go away. I'm glad that I had it done At least now I'm walking without pain.
My pain was as if there was a stress crack in my heal and the bottom of my foot. There was a lot of pressure on the arch of the foot. In decideing if your gonna have surgery just remember that if the nerve is trap, it will always be trap and could get worst to where the surgery won't help.
