tarsal tunnel syndromeI have just been diagnosed with TTS. My symptoms are different from any that I've ever heard. I have had very sporadic itching and burning on the bottom back arch of my right foot. It has gotten progressively worse, as I have been having the itching for about 4-6 months. Lately, it has been waking me up at night, and I actually have to take my shoe off in my office at work so I can scratch it at will!! I have absolutely no underlying diagnoses that would cause this, but I have begun some new medications (HCTZ and Zyloprim for kidney problems). I am 32 years old and very healthy. After several tests, my physician truly believes this is my diagnosis. I was treated with Cortizone, which seemed to make it itch more (he said this may happen). I go back in one week to be re-evaluated and for more treatment. If this doesn't work, he will send me to a Neurologist. I feel like I'm going crazy!! Any comments or suggestions?
Re: tarsal tunnel syndromeThe new medications may be the cause of your itching. If this is not the case, seeing a neurologist or podiatrist is he next best step. In the mean time, try not to scratch where it itches. This only causes the area to itch more as you are finding out.
