Tarsal TunnelHad surgery in oct-01.Done 2 months of herapy. Still having trouble walking on it. Doctor has released me with restrictions. Walking 15min max no lifting over 30lbs. What i want to know is there anything that can be done? Or will i have to deal with this for life?I still get numbness and tingling in my foot. And alot of ankle pain.
Re: Tarsal TunnelIn most cases, something else can always be done. This may include medications to stop the tingling, more physical therapy or even another surgery. However, it depends on what id causing the nerve compression as well as the ankle pain. You need to ask your doctor for alternative treatments options. If he or she can not offer you any, you may want to get a second opinion.

Re: Re: Tarsal TunnelThank You. What i was wondering was if i had to get another surgery what would have to be done? And what r the odds of making a good recovery? when i was doing therapy i would leave there in more pain. And lot of the things they had me do would cause me to limp even more.

Re: Re: Re: Tarsal TunnelTarsal tunnel syndrome is an entrapment of the tibial nerve. Unfortunately, many different structures can cause this entrapment. Therefore, without seeing your foot in person, I do not know what has to be done to release the entrapment. However, since you have pain after physical therapy, the posterior tibial tendon may also be injured. This tendon runs in the same area of the tibial nerve and the two can be a combined problem. This is one possibility for the reason the first surgery did not relieve your pain.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Tarsal Tunnelget a second opinion with a neuro-surgeon such as dr. a. lee dellon, director of the institute for peripheral nerve surgery who is a nerve specialist and has devised such intriquic methods of surgery! you can contact him at 410-467-5400 www.dellon.com
if it is impossible to come to baltimore, maryland then at least call his office because he trains surgeons all across the u.s. in nerve surgery procedures and get a referral from him. good luck
Had surgery in oct-01. Done 2 months of herapy...
