Tarsal Tunnel

Post a new topicby Guest on Fri Nov 08, 2002 7:03 pm

Had Tarsal tunnel surgery about 13 months ago. And now it is back again and also have arthritis. Have been using a AFO brace for about 2 months. Still not getting any relief. My doctor has been talking about ankle fusion. What r chances of good recovery from that type of surgery??

From what I know about ankle fusions is you won't be able to flex or bend your foot - you wouldn't be able to move your ankle - it would be in a 90 degree position and this sounds like it would relieve your pain. I have just been diagnosed with TTS. Right now I am taking Lyrica and ibuprofen as well as icing and immobilization by wearing a cast boot. I refused a cast. I'm supposed to wear the boot for six weeks. I used to think I wanted surgery but if there is a chance that it could come back I am going to be compliant and do as my pod says. Good luck with your foot. I feel for you! ~ Traci
