Desperate for help.Urology specialist stumped

I hope someone can help. After suffering a couple of UTI's my husbands doctor referred him to a specialist, who in turn did a biopsy of his bladder and prostate, after finding mild inflammation on a CT scan. Satisfied there was nothing unusual, tests clear, he gave him a six month follow up and sent him on his way. Six months later, a day before his follow up, he ended up in hospital. Doubled up in agony after failing to urinate fully due to pain, he was found to have a UTI and in retention. he was catheterised, put on antibiotics and released a few days later, catheter free. Three weeks later on holiday same thing happened. He was that bad the hospital thought he was dehydrated as his creatinine levels were over 254. After catheterising him and emptying over litre of urine several tests,x rays, CT, it was decided his kidneys had stopped working because they could no longer process. A week later they sent him home with an internal catheter after several attempts to use self catheterising techniques failed to work due to levels of pain. At home they took the catheter out and put him on self catheterisation.
It is now several months down the line, he has to self catheterise several times a day, the pain in his lower back (not present before) is constant and debilitating, he has pain in his flanks, groin, testicles, penis and now down his legs and pressure on his knee's. He can barely walk, being in constant pain. His mouth always smells like urine, he has dry mouths and is in retention nearly every day.
He has always suffered depression and we had started 2 years ago to handle it with medication and a very vigorous athletic lifestyle. Walking, mountain biking, running, weight lifting, and it worked great. After running CT,X-RAY-STRESS TEST, Several blood tests, more CT with TRACER they suggested it was his meds for depression we changed them over 4 months ago, he still gets worse. He has been on constant antibiotics for 3 months, in and out of hospital A&E for seven months. Now the specialist says he wants a second opinion, a fresh set of eyes as every thing they test comes back clear. This was a healthy 37year old, with no other complaint...ever...other than the depression Now he is on MST morphine, plus extra morphine which he needs every day and the pain is getting worse. He is getting suicidal, and now needs counceling for that.
What the hell is up with him, any ideas would be helpfull, I have scoured the internet. Symptoms fit kidney failure, prostitis, prostate cancer ect, but docs keep ruling it out. Anyone please.
Apologise for the long thread.

UPDATE:

After seeing a Musculoskeletal clinical physiotherapist, he almost immediately referred my husband for an emergency appointment with a neurologist... don't know if I should be worried more or less. Will keep posted, its in just over 2 weeks. Now I'm wondering MS???.
